When I was young, I was terrified of horses. This fear got the best of me once as our quarter horse chased me across the pasture. The faster I ran, the faster he pursued. I was so fixed on my fear of the horse; I forgot to watch for the fast approaching electric fence at the other side. Twenty-five stitches and many years later, I can attest to how limiting fear can be.
Fear is just one of many challenges in life that can keep us from reaching our full potential. I became a leadership trainer and life coach out of a deep desire to help people overcome issues such as fear, lack of focus, past failure, and other roadblocks to success. Mishaps of the past can be a great teacher, but they need not define us. Therefore, it is my mission to help people gain perspective from the past and implement proven strategies to find and fulfill their true purpose in the future.
I’ve had the opportunity to gain quite a bit of experience in my 20 years in the workforce. My experience ranges from laborer in an underground coal mine to a research scientist at a NASA research facility. Although I’ve been exposed to and involved in creating some of the most technologically advanced pieces of equipment on the planet, I quickly realized that people - not technologies - are the greatest asset of any company.
I spent the majority of my career being the tech liaison to the sales force and customer base. My focus over the last ten years of my career has been understanding the technology behind modern marketing and cost effective ways to increase top line revenue.
My passion is keeping local businesses relevant. No, not just relevant, but thriving. Local businesses aren't a matter of proximity any more. They aren't required because of location. The internet changed that forever. Now they serve an even greater purpose. They are community hubs. The local coffee shop is where we go to connect with people that are like us. Without the coffee shop, we don’t cross paths. If we don’t cross paths, we don’t have community.
